Daria Privacy Policy

Effective October 18, 2026

Daria is a reader for novels and comics. It has no accounts and no servers of its own that store your reading data. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes.

Data stored on your device

Your bookshelf, reading progress, book sources, content filters, imported books, downloaded chapters and settings are stored only on your device. We do not collect or receive them.

iCloud Backup

If you use iCloud Backup, a copy of your bookshelf (including reading progress), your book sources and your content filters is saved in your own private iCloud database through Apple's CloudKit. This data is tied to your Apple Account and is not visible to us. Imported local books and settings are not backed up. You can turn off automatic backup or delete the backup at any time in Settings > iCloud Backup. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.

Book sources and websites

Daria does not include copyrighted content. Content comes from book sources that you import or that are built in (Wikisource and Wikimedia Commons, which are not affiliated with Daria). When you search, browse or read, the app connects directly from your device to the websites those sources describe. Those websites receive your request and IP address, and may set cookies, under their own privacy policies. We do not see what you search for or read.

Read Aloud

The system voices run on your device. If you choose one of the built-in online voices, the text being read is sent to a third-party speech synthesis service to generate audio. If you add your own speech provider and key, the text is sent to that provider. The text is used only to produce audio, and we do not receive or store it.

Advertising

If you do not have a subscription, the app shows ads provided by Google AdMob. Google may collect your device's advertising identifier (only if you allow tracking when asked), coarse location, information about your interaction with ads, and diagnostic data, in order to serve, measure and improve ads. You can change your tracking choice at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are purchased and managed through Apple. We do not receive your payment information. The app only checks with Apple whether your subscription is active.

App configuration

The app downloads a configuration file from our hosting providers. Like any web server, these providers may log your IP address and request time. The request contains no personal data.

Photos

When you choose to save an image while reading, the app adds it to your photo library. The app does not read your photo library.

Children

Daria is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
